Amoxil (amoxicillin) is a prescription medicine specially intended for the treatment of bacteria-induced infections. It can be prescribed by your health care provider if you have been diagnosed with gonorrhea, ear infections, bladder infections, pneumonia, or E. coli. Make sure you always take Amoxil as prescribed, observing the dose very carefully. It's especially important to take the entire amount of this medicine prescribed, as stopping before it's time may result in a relapse of infection. Your blood, as well as your kidney or liver function must be tested before you can safely take Amoxil. Make sure you visit your health care provider regularly to see if everything is going just as planned. An overdose of Amoxil must be reported to your local emergency center, so make sure you always take the right dose. Taking more of Amoxil can produce the following symptoms: severe skin rash, confusion, behavior changes, and seizure. Your doctor needs to be aware if you are taking any other medicines, especially antibiotics, probenecid, sulfa drugs, or methotrexate. If you get such side effects as vomiting, nausea, headache, thrush, stomach pain, or vaginal itching, there is no need to worry – these side effects will probably go away on their own.
